It’s being said that the US wants to end the Russo-Ukrainian war for two reasons:

1. Trump’s campaign promises. The real reason is that Russia is winning. Every neutral state (i.e. countries capable of objective, disinterested analysis) sees the war as a proxy war pushed by America against Russia. America’s client state got wrecked – it lost territory, got its best killed, sufferred huge emigration, and had its infrastructure destroyed. And given the progress of the war, all these things can get 3x worse. On the other side, Russia did better than expected – it won territory and barely suffered economically. America needs to save face in order to strengthen its position with regard to other client states (e.g. Taiwan), its enemies (e.g. Iran), and those on the fence (e.g. Saudi Arabi). 2) Is structured to guarantee that the points will be held to. For example, a step-by-step process in which one sanction is removed in return for Russia holding back on one front; creation of a Russian cultural department within the Ukraine administration, education dept; some American legal device which provides some measure of assurance that the next admin won’t flip.

A difficult deal to make. Russia might as well continue on the offensive until it achieves a decisive win. America and the EU can’t put any more economic pressure on Russia, they can supply more weapons and money but it won’t make much of a differece cause the limiting factor appears to be personnel. The only way for America and the EU to apply more pressure is to get directly involved which they are unlikely to do.

All of human history, all of it, is a but blip of time if one belives the general science of time and space.
